The Art of Recovery: Embracing Creativity in Eating Disorder Treatment

CE Hours 1.5

About this course

In the mental health and nutrition fields, the treatment of eating disorders is often guided by rigorous scientific protocols and evidence-based practices. While these methods are crucial, they can sometimes overshadow the importance of creativity and flexibility in the healing process. This presentation aims to challenge the conventional, scientifically driven approaches and introduce the concept of the 'art of recovery.' Together we will explore innovative and creative strategies that can complement traditional methods, helping clients on their journey to recovery. By embracing creativity and flexibility, we can transform the recovery experience, making it not only effective but also deeply meaningful and enriching for our clients. Let’s move beyond the confines of traditional methodologies and discover the art of recovery together.

Learning Objectives

  • Identify and describe the therapeutic benefits of incorporating creative modalities, such as art, music, and writing into treatment plans.

  • Apply client-centered strategies to adapt treatment approaches based on individual client needs and strengths.
